        A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to assign to an interim study committee the topic of ignition interlock devices.
    

    Whereas, Ignition interlocks are similar to breathalyzers and are installed in automobiles to measure a driver's blood alcohol concentration;

    Whereas, Today, many states are requiring that ignition interlock devices be installed as a penalty for drivers convicted of driving under the influence, especially repeat offenders;

    Whereas, It behooves the state of Indiana to examine all possible methods to reduce the unnecessary loss of life and injury caused by drunk drivers: Therefore,



Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to assign to an interim study committee the topic of ignition interlock devices.
    SECTION 2. That the committee, if assigned the topic, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council and that the committee shall issue such reports as directed by the council.
