        A RESOLUTION honoring the Cathedral High School football team.

    Whereas, It was the high powered defense of Cathedral High School that brought pressure on Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School, Class 4A's highest-scoring football team, and enabled the Irish to capture a 31-20 victory and the school's eighth state football championship;

    Whereas, Finishing the season with a 12-3 record, Cathedral won its third 4A title in five years;

    Whereas, Ranked No. 6 by the Associated Press and No. 7 in the coaches' poll, Cathedral is the fifth school to win eight or more state titles;

    Whereas, On the three occasions that Bishop Dwenger was inside the Irish 20 yard line, the Cathedral defense held its opponent to a field goal twice and recovered a fumble;

    Whereas, Connor Barthel was selected as the winner of the Phil N. Eskew Mental Attitude Award in Class 4A Football; and

    Whereas, Excellence of this caliber deserves special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Cathedral High School football team on the Class 4A state championship and wishes team members continued success in all their future endeavors.
