    A HOUSE RESOLUTION to congratulate Tim Trippel of Mishawaka on being named Indiana's Top Young Scientist for 2011.

    Whereas, Tim Trippel is a senior at Marian High School in Mishawaka; and,

    Whereas, at the 23rd Annual Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair in Bloomington, Mr. Trippel presented his project on the "Development of a Low-Cost Electroporator for High School and Developing World Applications," proposing an inexpensive method for delivering substances directly into individual cells, to the benefit of chemotherapy, gene therapy and biochemcial research, among other applications; and,

    Whereas, as judged by the Science Education Foundation of Indiana on its creative ability, scientific thought, engineering goals, skill, and clarity, Mr. Trippel's project was chosen as the best entry of the more than 22,000 projects submitted this year

at local science fairs across the state, of which 3,700 were selected for participation in regional science fairs, and 100 were invited to compete at the statewide Science and Engineering Fair; and,

    Whereas, the Top Young Scientist award, established in 2009, is a $10,000 cash award, and is believed to be the largest of its kind in the country; and,

    Whereas, Mr. Trippel plans to take his intellectual talents to Purdue University in West Lafayette and pursue a degree in electrical engineering; Therefore:
    

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives officially recognizes Tim Trippel on the occasion of his being named Indiana's Top Young Scientist in 2011, congratulates him on the success of his hard work, perseverance and dedication to scientific inquiry, and wishes him the best in his college career at Purdue, and in all his future endeavors.
    SECTION 2. That the House of Representatives finds the
solicitude for the people of the world's disadvantaged nations in Mr. Trippel's project especially praiseworthy.
    SECTION 3. That the Principal Clerk of the House transmit a copy
of this resolution to Tim Trippel of Mishawaka.
