A HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor Representative Mary
Ann Sullivan on her retirement from the Indiana House of
Representatives.
Whereas, Representative Mary Ann Sullivan has
represented her constituents, the citizens of House District 97,
at the Statehouse since 2008;
Whereas, Representative Sullivan was born in Indianapolis
in 1959, and attended Holy Spirit Elementary, Our Lady of
Grace Academy and Warren Central High School before
earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1984, studying at
Ball State University and Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis;
Whereas, Continuing her education in the service of her constituents and the state, Representative Sullivan received the degree of Master of Public Affairs in policy analysis from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at IUPUI in 2008;
Whereas, Representative Sullivan has maintained a life- long commitment to the city of Indianapolis and its communities and neighborhoods, with more than thirty years' experience as an active volunteer in a variety of causes, large and small, and more than twenty years' experience in the service of a wide range of community organizations, boards and task forces; and,
Whereas, In her professional life outside the Statehouse,
Representative Sullivan has worked for IUPUI, Key
Renaissance School in the Indianapolis Public School system,
the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Indiana
Department of Education, the Christel DeHaan Family
Foundation, and the Center of Excellence in Leadership:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives thanks
Representative Mary Ann Sullivan for her dedicated and honorable
service to her constituency and to the state of Indiana, and wishes her
happiness and contentment in her retirement.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Representative
Sullivan and her family.
