A HOUSE RESOLUTION to thank the Schneck Medical
Center for its work on behalf of Hoosier communities.
Whereas, On November 22nd, 2011, President Barack
Obama and Commerce Secretary John Bryson announced
Schneck Medical Center in Seymour as a Malcolm Baldrige
National Quality Award winner;
Whereas, Schneck is one of only 90 recipients in the history
of the award;
Whereas, Schneck's proud history dates back to when it
first opened in 1911 as a 17-bed facility with the finest staff and
equipment at the time;
Whereas, is today a 93-bed nonprofit hospital providing
primary and specialized services to the residents of Jackson
County, Indiana, and surrounding communities;
Whereas, Schneck's workforce numbers 800 employees,
who are joined by 150 affiliated physicians, 300 volunteers, and
more than 200 students;
Whereas, Schneck admits over 5,000 patients, conducts
more than 9,000 surgical procedures, performs over 500,000
laboratory tests, sees more than 24,000 emergency cases, and
brings more than 600 new lives into the world on an annual
basis; and,
Whereas, Schneck provides a wide range of services to
Hoosier families, including mammograms and family classes:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Schneck Medical Center on its receipt of the 2011 Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award, and thanks the center and its staff for its tireless work on behalf of Hoosier families.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House transmit a copy of this resolution to the Schneck Medical Center.
