        A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing that the Department of Workforce Development will continue to provide priority for placement (more commonly referred to as "priority of service") for employment or training services to qualified National Guard members and qualified members of the United States Armed Services and Reservists and their spouses.

    Whereas, The Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002 (JVA), 38 U.S.C. 4215 requires priority of service to qualified United States Armed Service and Reserve members and spouses;

    Whereas, Under IC 22-4.1-4-3, employment and training program priority is given to National Guard members and spouses;

    Whereas, The JVA and the priority of service it requires are important acknowledgments of the sacrifices of the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces;

    Whereas, The Department of Workforce Development's strategic vision for priority of service honors eligible veterans and their spouses as"heroes at home" and envisions that United States Department of Labor funded employment and training programs (including the publicly funded workforce investment system) will identify, inform, and deliver comprehensive services to covered veterans and their spouses as part of strategic workforce development activities across the United States;

    Whereas, The Department of Workforce Development will continue to provide intensive services to veterans who may have challenges to employment or special training needs through its Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program;

    Whereas, The Department of Workforce Development will continue to advocate for veterans regarding employment and training opportunities with business, industry, and community based organizations through its Local Veterans' Employment Representative Program; and

    Whereas, Indiana is committed to providing quality employment services to veterans at the local WorkOne Centers: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
