A RESOLUTION recognizing Washington High School
as the 2010-2011 Class 3A boys basketball state champions.
Whereas, Washington High School boys basketball team
dominated Class 3A again, defeating Culver Academies 61-46
at Conseco Fieldhouse to collect its second consecutive state
championship and fourth since 2005;
Whereas, This year's championship was the Hatchets'
seventh overall state championship, tying them with Marion for
second on the all-time list;
Whereas, Coach Gene Miiller, who has led Washington to its last three state titles, became the ninth coach in Indiana history with three or more state championships;
Whereas, The Hatchets, who were ranked number one by the Associated Press, finished the season with an outstanding 24-4 record;
Whereas, Cody Zeller was named the winner of the Arthur
L. Trester Mental Attitude Award in Class 3A Boys Basketball
by the members of the IHSAA Executive Committee; and
Whereas, Excellence in any endeavor and determination to
reach a specific goal deserve special recognition: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Washington High School boys basketball team on its 2010-2011 Class 3A state basketball championship and wishes the team members success in all their future endeavors.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to all team members, team managers, Head Coach Gene Miller, Principal Paul White, and Superintendent Dr. Bruce Hatton.
