A HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor the 2010 World Junior
tennis champion Brooke Austin of Indianapolis.
Whereas, Brooke Austin was a member of the winning U.S.
World Junior tennis team; and,
Whereas, the team competed in the 2010 World Junior
tennis finals in Prostejov in the Czech Republic, and won its
fourth consecutive title in the competition; and,
Whereas, the girls division had 16 teams, split into groups
of four for the qualifying division in May at the North/Central
American and Caribbean Regional championships; and,
Whereas, this is the first time in the history of the event that
one country has captured four straight titles; and,
Whereas, the U.S. girls' team dominated its round robin
group, winning all sets through nine matches; and,
Whereas, the U.S. girls' team qualified for the 2010 World Junior tennis finals upon defeating the nations of Austria, South Africa, South Korea, China and the Ukraine; and,
Whereas, Ms. Austin was also a member of the title-
winning U.S. team of 2009; and,
Whereas, Ms. Austin has a long and impressive record of
achievement in the sport of tennis: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives officially
congratulates Brooke Austin for her achievements with the U.S. World
Junior tennis team, and thanks her for representing her home state so
admirably both here and abroad.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House transmit a copy
of this resolution to Ms. Austin.
