    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Nicole Pollard on her selection as Miss Indiana 2009.

    Whereas, the Miss Indiana and Miss America programs' missions are to foster the goals of scholarship, service, style and success; and

    Whereas, Nicole Pollard competed for the title of Miss Indiana 2009 as Miss Duneland, a local scholarship program based in Michigan City, Indiana; and

    Whereas, On Saturday, June 21, 2009, Nicole Pollard captured the title of Miss Indiana, besting the field of twenty-eight contestants; and

    Whereas, Nicole Pollard won the preliminary talent award during the Miss Indiana competition; and
    Whereas, Nicole Pollard is a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School, having received an Academic Honors Diploma; and

    Whereas, Nicole Pollard is a graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University-Bloomington; having received her Bachelor of Music Education; and 


    Whereas, Nicole Pollard will compete for the title of Miss America on January 30, 2010; and 
    Whereas, Nicole Pollard is a consummate representative of our state and the embodiment of poise and grace; Therefore, 

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly congratulates Nicole Pollard on her selection as the 2009 Miss Indiana and wishes her succ ess in the national competition, for which she leaves on the 21 st of January, 2010.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to Nicole Pollard and her family.
