RESOLUTION
No. 6



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION designating the Honor and Remember Flag as the state symbol of the sacrifice made by members of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in the line of duty.

    Whereas, Since the Revolutionary War, more than one million members of the United States Armed Forces have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives for their country;

    Whereas, The contributions of these fallen heroes are deserving of national recognition;

    Whereas, The 111th Congress introduced House Resolution 1034 designating the Honor and Remember Flag as the symbol honoring all fallen members of the United States Armed Forces;

    Whereas, The Honor and Remember Flag represents the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for freedom and represents all active service in military conflicts dating back to World War I;

    Whereas, The Honor and Remember Flag reminds all of us of the value of a life given in service to our country and the eternal spirit of the departed;

    Whereas, The Honor and Remember Flag is a unifying symbol of the debt owed to these 1.6 million brave men and women and the families who mourn their loss;


    Whereas, Hoosiers owe an eternal debt of gratitude to all men and women who were killed protecting our freedom in the line of duty; and

    Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly acknowledges the service, courage, and sacrifice of these brave men and women and wishes to honor them; and

    Whereas, The Honor and Remember Flag should fly with dignity and honor over all public buildings throughout our state signifying our great debt to these fallen heroes; Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly designates the Honor and Remember Flag as the symbol of the service and sacrifice by men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in the line of duty.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the member of the Indiana Congressional delegation.
