SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of O. William "Bill" Wenger of Peoria, who
4passed away on October 29, 2016; and
5 WHEREAS, William Wenger was born in Peoria to Orlendo
6Joseph and Helen Mae (Sullivan) Wenger on May 10, 1929; he
7graduated from Peoria High School in 1946 and attended Bradley
8University; he married Betty M. Fischer on June 10, 1951; he
9served in the United States Army and was sent to Korea; he
10received his honorable discharge as a Technical Sergeant in
11December of 1952; and
12 WHEREAS, William Wenger began his career as a buyer for
13Block and Kuhl (Carson's), where he worked for over 20 years;
14he then became a manager for Insurance North America (Cigna)
15until he retired in 1991; and
16 WHEREAS, William Wenger was a lifetime member of First
17Baptist Church of Peoria, where he met his wife at the high
18school youth group; he and his wife became part of a group of
19good friends from the church who met monthly for social
20activities; and
21 WHEREAS, William Wenger was preceded in death by his

1parents and his brother, Walter; and
2 WHEREAS, William Wenger is survived by his wife of 65
3years, Betty; his brother, Jerry; his children, Lee Wenger
4(Denise Adams), Dick (Rosie) Wenger, Kitty Benson, Ken (Susan)
5Wenger, and Carol (Dan) Learned; 10 grandchildren; and two
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9O. William "Bill" Wenger, and extend our sincere condolences to
10his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of William Wenger as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
