2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Darlene S. Fiske of Woodstock, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on June 1, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske was born on November 4, 1929 in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; her parents were Arthur E. and Alma Sharp; she married | ||||||
7 | Kenneth V. Fiske in 1954; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske graduated from Northwestern | ||||||
9 | University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority | ||||||
10 | and the Mortar Board; she also pursued a master's degree in | ||||||
11 | Library Science at the University of Chicago; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske was a homemaker and volunteer; she | ||||||
13 | was a founder of the McHenry County Audubon Society and the | ||||||
14 | Woodstock Fine Arts Association; she was a key organizer in the | ||||||
15 | restoration of the Woodstock Opera House; she was a renowned | ||||||
16 | birder and her bird identification ability was unparalleled; | ||||||
17 | she traveled the world adding birds to her Life List and was a | ||||||
18 | member of the Governor's Committee on Endangered Species; she | ||||||
19 | and her husband also worked with the Hawaii Nature Conservancy, | ||||||
20 | the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in Hawaii, and the | ||||||
21 | Ding Darling Nature Preserve on Sanibel Island; and

1 | WHEREAS, Prior to her marriage, Darlene Fiske had a | ||||||
2 | successful career in television production with NBC Chicago, | ||||||
3 | which included shows such as Zoo Parade (from the Lincoln Park | ||||||
4 | Zoo), Wild Kingdom, and Mr. Wizard; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske loved music, especially opera, and | ||||||
6 | was a longtime subscriber to the Lyric Opera of Chicago; she | ||||||
7 | also sang with the Woodstock Fine Arts Chorale and was a | ||||||
8 | founder and active member of Woodstock's Mast House folk music | ||||||
9 | circle; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske was preceded in death by her parents | ||||||
11 | and her brother, William Sharp; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Darlene Fiske is survived by her husband, Kenneth; | ||||||
13 | her daughters, Diana (David) Wilson, Jennifer Fiske, and Nancy | ||||||
14 | (Ron) Readel; her grandchildren, Matthew (Kate) Wilson and | ||||||
15 | Timothy (Nina Beck) Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Elliot | ||||||
16 | and Nora Wilson; her twin brother, Donald Sharp; and her | ||||||
17 | devoted cat, Serena; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
20 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Darlene S. Fiske; and | ||||||
21 | be it further
