SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Lawrence E. "Larry" McGinnis of
Hillsdale, who passed away on May 27, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence McGinnis was born on February 19, 1944 in
Dubuque, Iowa; his parents were Edward and Vera Phillips
McGinnis; he married Susan Beetem on September 3, 1966 in
Dubuque, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence McGinnis was a veteran of the United
States Army; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence McGinnis loved NASCAR, camping, and
working on golf carts; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence McGinnis was preceded in death by his
parents; his sister, Barbra Pregler; and his brothers-in-law,
Don Pregler and Leo Pottebaum; and
WHEREAS, Lawrence McGinnis is survived by his loving wife
of 49 years, Susan; his son, Bill (Joanna) McGinnis; his
daughters, Dawn Hall, Terri Massa, and Cheri (Rick) Kessler;
his 11 grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his sister,
Shirley Pottebaum; and his brothers, James McGinnis and Wayne

McGinnis; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
family and friends, mourn the passing of Lawrence E. "Larry"
McGinnis; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Lawrence McGinnis as an expression
of our sympathy.
