1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Matthew C. Murrin of Silvis, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on April 15, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was born on September 20, 1924 in | ||||||
6 | Moline; his parents were Michael J. and Mary C. Murrin; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin served his country in the United | ||||||
8 | States Navy during World War II on the USS Cumberland and was | ||||||
9 | among the first to enter Tokyo Bay; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin worked at I.H. Works in East Moline | ||||||
11 | for 33 years until his retirement in 1981; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was a lifelong member of St. Mary's | ||||||
13 | Church in Moline and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan; he was a | ||||||
14 | past-president and charter member of the National Corvette Club | ||||||
15 | and was one of the founders of the Midwest Corvette Car Club; | ||||||
16 | and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin was preceded in death by his | ||||||
18 | parents; two sisters; and two brothers; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Matthew Murrin is survived by his sisters, |

1 | Patricia Gaydon, Rita Johnson, Betty Marco, and Kay Murrin; his | ||||||
2 | brother, Paul (Carol) Murrin; and his 23 nieces and nephews; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
6 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Matthew C. Murrin; and | ||||||
7 | be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Matthew Murrin as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our sympathy.
