SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Susan "Susie" (nee Babington)
4Danielson of Crystal Lake, who passed away on September 12,
52014; and
6 WHEREAS, Susie Danielson was born in Macomb on July 21,
71952 to William Jr. and Maxine (nee Reis) Babington; her family
8relocated to Crystal Lake in 1968 and she graduated from
9Crystal Lake Community High School in 1970; she attended
10Western Illinois University where she was a member of the Alpha
11Sigma Tau sorority, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of
12Science in Education; later in her career, she acquired a
13master's degree from Concordia University; she married Kim
14Danielson on August 20, 1977 at Saint Thomas the Apostle
15Catholic Church in Crystal Lake; and
16 WHEREAS, In 1974, Susie Danielson began a long and
17dedicated teaching career at North Elementary School in Crystal
18Lake; she spent her entire 34 years educating fourth and
19sixth-graders, retiring in 2008; she took great pride leading
20her classes on many field trips off campus at McHenry County
21conservation sites; her classes planted prairie vegetation
22native to Illinois throughout Sternes Woods and numerous other
23areas or Crystal Lake; and

1 WHEREAS, Susie Danielson and her husband traveled
2extensively throughout their marriage, having a particular
3fondness for McGregor, Minnesota, where they had a cabin for
4many years, Green Valley, Arizona, where they vacationed with
5family often, and South Bend, Indiana, where they held season
6tickets for their beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish; they also
7traveled the country enjoying her favorite pastime, golf; she
8had a tremendous passion for the links and acted as a true
9ambassador for the game, drawing many ladies to the sport as
10chairperson for several Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity
11golf outings; she was instrumental in raising over $100,000 for
12the charity at Timber Pointe Golf Club in Poplar Grove; she
13accomplished this in addition to winning many local
14tournaments, club championships, and friends' quarters on the
15course; she also cherished her time with the gals at book club,
16golf leagues, and volleyball; and
17 WHEREAS, Susie Danielson was preceded in death by her
18parents, William, Jr. and Maxine Babington; and
19 WHEREAS, Susie Danielson is survived by her husband, Kim;
20dog and companion, "Sugar"; brother, Patrick (Cindy) Babington
21and their children, Kyle and Kate; brother, William, III (Pam)
22Babington and their sons, Jeffrey and Todd; her longtime friend
23and caregiver, Rose Volpendesta; and many other family and

1friends; therefore, be it
2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Mary Susan "Susie" Danielson, and extend our sincere
5condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
6her; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Susie Danielson as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
