2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mary Susan "Susie" (nee Babington) | ||||||
4 | Danielson of Crystal Lake, who passed away on September 12, | ||||||
5 | 2014; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Susie Danielson was born in Macomb on July 21, | ||||||
7 | 1952 to William Jr. and Maxine (nee Reis) Babington; her family | ||||||
8 | relocated to Crystal Lake in 1968 and she graduated from | ||||||
9 | Crystal Lake Community High School in 1970; she
attended | ||||||
10 | Western Illinois University where she was a member of the Alpha | ||||||
11 | Sigma Tau
sorority, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of | ||||||
12 | Science in Education; later in
her career, she acquired a | ||||||
13 | master's degree from Concordia University; she married Kim | ||||||
14 | Danielson on August 20, 1977 at Saint Thomas the Apostle | ||||||
15 | Catholic Church in Crystal Lake; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, In 1974, Susie Danielson began a long and | ||||||
17 | dedicated teaching career at North Elementary School in
Crystal | ||||||
18 | Lake; she spent her entire 34 years educating fourth and | ||||||
19 | sixth-graders, retiring in 2008; she took great pride leading | ||||||
20 | her classes on many field trips off campus at
McHenry County | ||||||
21 | conservation sites; her classes planted prairie vegetation
| ||||||
22 | native to Illinois throughout Sternes Woods and numerous other | ||||||
23 | areas or Crystal Lake; and

1 | WHEREAS, Susie Danielson and her husband traveled | ||||||
2 | extensively throughout their
marriage, having a particular | ||||||
3 | fondness for McGregor, Minnesota, where they had a cabin for
| ||||||
4 | many years, Green Valley, Arizona, where they vacationed with | ||||||
5 | family often, and South
Bend, Indiana, where they held season | ||||||
6 | tickets for their beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish; they also | ||||||
7 | traveled the country enjoying her favorite pastime, golf; she | ||||||
8 | had a tremendous
passion for the links and acted as a true | ||||||
9 | ambassador for the game, drawing many ladies to
the sport as | ||||||
10 | chairperson for several Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity | ||||||
11 | golf outings;
she was instrumental in raising over $100,000 for | ||||||
12 | the charity at Timber Pointe Golf Club in
Poplar Grove; she | ||||||
13 | accomplished this in addition to winning many local
| ||||||
14 | tournaments, club championships, and friends' quarters on the | ||||||
15 | course; she also cherished
her time with the gals at book club, | ||||||
16 | golf leagues, and volleyball; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Susie Danielson was preceded in
death by her | ||||||
18 | parents, William, Jr. and Maxine Babington; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Susie Danielson is survived by her husband, Kim; | ||||||
20 | dog and companion, "Sugar"; brother, Patrick
(Cindy) Babington | ||||||
21 | and their children, Kyle and Kate; brother, William,
III (Pam) | ||||||
22 | Babington and their sons, Jeffrey and Todd; her longtime friend
| ||||||
23 | and caregiver, Rose Volpendesta; and many other family and |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
3 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
4 | Mary Susan "Susie" Danielson, and extend our sincere | ||||||
5 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
6 | her; and be it further

7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Susie Danielson as an expression of | ||||||
9 | our deepest sympathy.
