2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dr. Kurt E. Nelson of Rock Island, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 20, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson was born in Moline to Carl E. and Elsa | ||||||
6 | C. (Grahn) Nelson on December 24, 1921; he served in the U.S. | ||||||
7 | Navy during World War II in the Pacific Ocean theater on the | ||||||
8 | island of Saipan; he graduated from Northwestern University | ||||||
9 | Dental School in Chicago; he married Violet M. Helstrom in | ||||||
10 | Moline on November 19, 1988; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson practiced dentistry in Moline for 30 | ||||||
12 | years before he retired in 1985; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson was a member of the First Evangelical | ||||||
14 | Free Church in Moline; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
16 | Violet; his parents; and his brother, Lennart; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Dr. Nelson is survived by his many nieces and | ||||||
18 | nephews; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
2 | Dr. Kurt E. Nelson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
3 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Dr. Nelson as an expression of our | ||||||
7 | deepest sympathy.
