1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Dr. Edward K. Du Vivier of Godfrey, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 21, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier was born on January 27, 1919 in New | ||||||
6 | York City to Joseph and Eleanor (nee Keyes) Du Vivier; he was | ||||||
7 | raised in France until the age of 18; he went to Avon, then | ||||||
8 | Yale University and Cornell Medical School in New York City, | ||||||
9 | graduating in 1945; he served in the Medical Corps of the | ||||||
10 | United States Army from 1942 to 1948; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier completed his residencies in | ||||||
12 | Pediatrics at New York Hospital in 1950 and practiced | ||||||
13 | Pediatrics with Drs. Pierce and Humphrey in Alton until | ||||||
14 | November of 1988; during his practice, "Dr. Ned" became Chief | ||||||
15 | of Staff and Emeritus of St. Joseph, Saint Anthony's Health | ||||||
16 | Center, and Alton Memorial Hospital; he represented the Madison | ||||||
17 | County Medical Society as a delegate to the Meetings of the | ||||||
18 | Illinois State Medical Society for 35 years and was on the | ||||||
19 | Regional Medical Peer Review Board in Quincy, President of the | ||||||
20 | Downstate Pediatric Society, and President of the Madison | ||||||
21 | County Medical Society; and

22 | WHEREAS, After retirement at age 70, Dr. Du Vivier served |

1 | for 3 years as Madison County Representative to the Silver | ||||||
2 | Haired Congress in Washington, D.C.; he was on the board of the | ||||||
3 | Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging in Belleville for 8 years | ||||||
4 | and on the board of Alton Senior Services Plus for 8 years; he | ||||||
5 | volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in | ||||||
6 | Hartford, the Hayner Public Library, the AARP, and Leisure | ||||||
7 | Friends; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dr. Du Vivier is survived by his wife, the former | ||||||
9 | Marjorie Jeanne Attebery, whom he married in 1947, and 7 | ||||||
10 | children: Joseph A. DuVivier and Toni Rizzo,
Charles G. and | ||||||
11 | Kathryn DuVivier, Edward F. and Mateboho "Matty" DuVivier, | ||||||
12 | Katharine K. "KK" DuVivier and Lance Wright, David O. DuVivier, | ||||||
13 | Louise D. and William Alsing, and Eleanor D. and Michael Dunn; | ||||||
14 | and 8 grandchildren: Edward and Hea Jeong DuVivier, Dave Du | ||||||
15 | Vivier, Una Kate DuVivier-McDermott, Joseph Pitso DuVivier, | ||||||
16 | Alice DuVivier and Michael Rhodes, Emmett Perl, and Zachary and | ||||||
17 | Alex Dunn; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Dr. Edward K. Du Vivier, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
22 | further
| ||||||
23 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
