1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John O'Neill, who passed away on July 29, | ||||||
4 | 2015, and Margaret T. O'Neill, who passed away on July 30, | ||||||
5 | 2015; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, John O'Neill and Margaret O'Neill were born only | ||||||
7 | weeks apart in 1934, Margaret on November 2 and John on | ||||||
8 | December 26; Margaret and John were students at St. Luke School | ||||||
9 | in River Forest and were later married at St. Luke Catholic | ||||||
10 | Church; in their long married life together, the beloved couple | ||||||
11 | were very active and well known in the St. Luke parish | ||||||
12 | community; John served as a deacon for many years; the O'Neills | ||||||
13 | were also involved and supportive of both Trinity High School | ||||||
14 | in River Forest, Fenwick High School in Oak Park, and other | ||||||
15 | Catholic charities; and

16 | WHEREAS, In the 1970s, John O'Neill purchased the F.C. | ||||||
17 | Pilgrim & Company real estate company from John Pilgrim; he | ||||||
18 | subsequently merged his established insurance agency into | ||||||
19 | Pilgrim; in later years, several members of his large family | ||||||
20 | took on key roles at Pilgrim; in June of 2011, F.C. Pilgrim was | ||||||
21 | acquired by Chicago-based Baird & Warner; he was a staple of | ||||||
22 | the local real estate community; and

1 | WHEREAS, Margaret O'Neill was the "grand dame" of the | ||||||
2 | O'Neill clan and, at St. Luke Catholic Church, she helped with | ||||||
3 | the Caring and Sharing program, an effort which provides food | ||||||
4 | and other assistance to people in need; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John O'Neill was preceded in death by his | ||||||
6 | siblings, Emmett (Margaret Mary) and Bob (Pat) O'Neill and | ||||||
7 | Maureen (Harry) Crawford; Margaret O'Neill was preceded in | ||||||
8 | death by her siblings, John, Tom (Lynn), Tony (the late | ||||||
9 | Claudette), and Jim (Mary) Barrett; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, John and Margaret O'Neill are survived by their | ||||||
11 | children, Patty (Frank) Baker, John (Pat), Peggy (Jack) | ||||||
12 | Gleason, Michael (Margie), Mary (Joe) Bresnahan, Carol, Molly | ||||||
13 | (Van) Conroy, and Danny (Cathy) O'Neill; their grandchildren, | ||||||
14 | John Francis (Julie) and Mark (fiancee, Jenna Cluver) Baker, | ||||||
15 | Kelly (Jon) Thielbar, Kevin and Erin O'Neill, Colleen (Joel) | ||||||
16 | Thielen, and Patrick Gleason, Mary Loretta, Bridget, Kathleen, | ||||||
17 | and Molly O'Neill, Michael, Mariclaire, and Matthew Bresnahan, | ||||||
18 | Michael, Margaret Mary, Madeline, and Colleen Stephany, Jack | ||||||
19 | and Andy Conroy, and Charlie and Daniel O'Neill; and their | ||||||
20 | great-granddaughter, Maura Baker; therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with their | ||||||
23 | families and friends, mourn the passing of John O'Neill and |

1 | Margaret T. O'Neill; and be it further

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
3 | presented to the family of John and Margaret O'Neill as an | ||||||
