2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Everett Earl Ledbetter of Springfield, | ||||||
4 | formerly of Sparta, who passed away on March 16, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was born in Sparta to Katherine | ||||||
6 | (Saal) and Lewis Ledbetter on August 12, 1924; he served in the | ||||||
7 | U.S. Third Army, 76th Infantry during WWII, where he fought in | ||||||
8 | Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter worked at World Color Press in | ||||||
10 | Sparta; he moved to Springfield to work at the Journal Star in | ||||||
11 | Peoria around 1959; he later worked at the Springfield | ||||||
12 | Journal-Register; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter will be remembered as a devoted | ||||||
14 | husband, father, and grandfather; he was a member of the | ||||||
15 | Springfield Southern Baptist Church; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was preceded in death by his | ||||||
17 | first wife, Reba Scott Ledbetter; his second wife, Dorothy | ||||||
18 | Millner Bush Ledbetter; his son, Nolan Ledbetter; his | ||||||
19 | daughter-in-law, Kay Ledbetter; his brother, Bill Ledbetter; | ||||||
20 | his sisters, Mildred McIntyre, Edith Howie, and Edna Baily; and | ||||||
21 | his parents; and

2 | Gene Ledbetter and Russell (Mary Jane) Ledbetter; his | ||||||
3 | grandchildren, Richard (Betty) Ledbetter, Sherri Kay Whitmore, | ||||||
4 | Lisa Marie Brown, Diane Marie (John) Baranzelli, Christopher | ||||||
5 | Joseph (Amy) Ledbetter, Jamie Lynn (Brandon) Bowden, and Robin | ||||||
6 | Leigh Ledbetter; his stepdaughters, Linda Bush Prince and Sandy | ||||||
7 | Bush Howard; his step-grandchildren, Shelly Gresham, Susan | ||||||
8 | Bowen, and Scott Morehead; and his many great-grandchildren and | ||||||
9 | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
12 | Everett Earl Ledbetter and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
13 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
