SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carl W. Spoljoric Sr. of Rock Island, who
4passed away on February 28, 2020; and
5 WHEREAS, Carl Spoljoric was born in Hammond, Indiana to
6John Charles and Florence (Duney) Spoljoric on April 1, 1951;
7he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976 and married
8Nancy Fultz in Indiana on April 2, 1977; he graduated from
9Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in physical
10education; and
11 WHEREAS, Carl Spoljoric retired from the U.S. Small
12Business Administration Office of Disaster Assistance after 25
13years as a construction analyst; previously, he worked for 84
14Lumber, Sivyer Steel, and Calumet Auto Wrecking; he had also
15worked as a substitute teacher in the Rock Island School
16District; and
17 WHEREAS, Carl Spoljoric was an avid fan of Purdue sports;
18he loved traveling and woodworking and was a great handyman; he
19also enjoyed helping coach his daughter's Rock Island slow
20pitch softball team; and
21 WHEREAS, Carl Spoljoric was preceded in death by his infant

1daughter, Jennifer Christine Spoljoric and his parents; and
2 WHEREAS, Carl Spoljoric is survived by his wife, Nancy; his
3children, John Spoljoric II, Carl Spoljoric II (Jessica
4Quillin), and Chanci Spoljoric; his grandchildren, Ariyah,
5Allyssa, Isabelle, and Henry; his siblings, David, Virginia
6(Ginny), Daniel, Robert, and Christine (Tina); and his
7grand-dogs, Chewy and Bear; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Carl W. Spoljoric Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Carl Spoljoric as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
