| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Harold E. "Lem" Kaiser of Morton, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 17, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Harold Kaiser was born in Tremont on December 15, | ||||||
6 | 1919 to Benjamin and Anna (nee Plattner) Kaiser; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Tremont High School in 1937; he married Ila Jean Stieglitz | ||||||
8 | in February of 1946 in Morton; he farmed for his father until | ||||||
9 | leaving for the service in 1942 and served his country in the | ||||||
10 | United States Army from 1942 to 1946; he married Helen Jean | ||||||
11 | (nee Smith) Merchenthaler on November 10, 1976 in Morton; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Harold Kaiser worked for the United States Postal | ||||||
13 | Service as a rural mail carrier, delivering mail between 1958 | ||||||
14 | and 1982 in Morton and Tremont; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Harold Kaiser was an avid golfer who scored a | ||||||
16 | hole-in-one 3 different times; he enjoyed searching for morel | ||||||
17 | mushrooms in his favorite spots, cooking steak on the grill, | ||||||
18 | and eating strawberries and shortcake; he grew sweet corn and | ||||||
19 | tomatoes and picked berries; he relished dinners on the | ||||||
20 | screened-in porch with his family; he enjoyed traveling to | ||||||
21 | Florida, Hawaii, and Cancun, Mexico; he enjoyed ice-skating | ||||||
22 | with his daughter, water-skiing with the boys, swimming, |

1 | badminton, and cards with the grandkids; he loved to garden and | ||||||
2 | tinker around the house and yard; he was an active member of | ||||||
3 | the Morton Apostolic Christian Church; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Harold Kaiser was preceded in death by his first | ||||||
5 | wife, Ila; his brother; and his 5 sisters; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Harold Kaiser is survived by his wife, Helen; his | ||||||
7 | 4 children, Loren "Lon" (Cindy) Kaiser, Thomas (Lisa) Kaiser, | ||||||
8 | Jean (Don) Lashbrook, and Scott (Julie) Kaiser; his brother, | ||||||
9 | Orman (Katherine) Kaiser; his 2 sisters-in-law, Verla Leman and | ||||||
10 | Wilma Stieglitz; and his 11 grandchildren and 19 | ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren, including Jeff (Mary) Kaiser, Kim Emery, | ||||||
12 | Heather (Ryan) Gray, Joe Williamson, Dawn (Brian) Sharpe, Terah | ||||||
13 | (Jason) Allen, Angie (Andy) Ogburn, Weston (Stephanie) Taylor, | ||||||
14 | Jesse (Emily) Lashbrook, and Jake and Laura Kaiser; therefore, | ||||||
15 | be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Harold E. "Lem" Kaiser, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
19 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further
| ||||||
21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Harold Kaiser as an expression of |
