SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ralph Monroe Kick of Ringwood, who passed
4away on March 7, 2014; and
5 WHEREAS, Ralph Kick was born on May 5, 1920 in
6Libertyville; his parents were Horace J. Kick and Marie V.
7Larson; he married the love of his life, Beulah Steffen, in
81958; and
9 WHEREAS, In October of 1943, Ralph Kick enlisted into the
10United States Navy "Seabees"; he served our country for 3 years
11and 4 months in the 42nd Naval Construction Battalion; and
12 WHEREAS, In 1951, Ralph Kick started working at the Frank
13Hough Company in Libertyville; later, International Harvester
14bought the Hough Factory and Dresser bought the Harvester
15Plant; he retired after 36 years of service in 1986; and
16 WHEREAS, Ralph Kick was a member of the Veterans of Foreign
17Wars Post 4600 in McHenry, American Legion Post 183 in Genoa
18City, and the McHenry Moose Lodge; and
19 WHEREAS, Ralph Kick was preceded in death by his wife,
20Beulah; and

1 WHEREAS, Ralph Kick is survived by his beloved siblings,
2David (Linda), Thomas (Pat), and Gracie (Robert) Zimmerman; his
3brother-in-law, Wayne (Carol) Steffen; his loving niece, best
4friend, and caregiver, Cathy Daniel; and his many nieces and
5nephews; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Ralph Monroe Kick; and
9be it further
10 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ralph Kick as an expression of our
12sympathy.
