2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Leo Chester Cox of Alton, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on March 11, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox was born on September 29, 1942 in St. | ||||||
6 | Louis; his parents were Norval and Amanda Butler Cox; he | ||||||
7 | married Charlene Lucas on June 4, 1960; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox was honorably discharged from the United | ||||||
9 | States Marine Corps in 1964; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox worked in the parts division at General | ||||||
11 | Motors; he later retired from Shell Oil; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox was a member of the 100 Black Men of | ||||||
13 | Alton, American Legion Post 354, Friends of the 60's/ABA, the | ||||||
14 | NAACP, the Leathernecks, the Urban League, the Wood River | ||||||
15 | Refinery Retired Association, and the Magnificent Seven and | ||||||
16 | Just Us bowling teams; and

17 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox enjoyed golfing, dancing, and going to | ||||||
18 | Alton High School games; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox was preceded in death by his wife, |

1 | Charlene; his parents; his sister, Amanda Matilda Cox; and his | ||||||
2 | brother, Donald Cox; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Leo Cox is survived by his daughter, Wendy Gray; | ||||||
4 | his sons, Cleveland (Lisa) Cox, Leo Cox, Jr. and Michael | ||||||
5 | (Tonya) Cox; his grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his | ||||||
6 | brothers, Norval Cox, Jr., Samuel Cox, Sr., and Barbara Weeden | ||||||
7 | (Curtis Faulkner); and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and | ||||||
8 | friends; therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
11 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Leo Chester Cox; and | ||||||
12 | be it further

13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
14 | presented to the family of Leo Cox as an expression of our | ||||||
15 | sympathy.
