SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael Gene Burns of Granite City,
4who passed away on February 10, 2022; and
5 WHEREAS, Michael Burns was born to Clarence and Hazel
6(Nance) Burns in Belleville on August 31, 1948; he married
7Judy Garrett in Washington Park on December 26, 1970; and
8 WHEREAS, Michael Burns served as a staff sergeant in the
9U.S. Air Force, where he participated in the USAF Honor Guard;
10and
11 WHEREAS, Michael Burns enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating,
12and flying small planes; and
13 WHEREAS, Michael Burns was preceded in death by his
14parents; his brother, John Burns; and his sister, Shirley
15Conley; and
16 WHEREAS, Michael Burns is survived by his wife of 51
17years, Judy Burns; his daughter, Lori (Tom) Gibbons; his
18grandsons, Jackson and Shane Gibbons; and his four granddogs;
19therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Michael Gene Burns and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Michael Burns as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
