2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Martha Francis Jones, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | October 19, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Martha Jones was born on August 31, 1938; her | ||||||
6 | parents were Era and Robert Gavins; she married Harry L. | ||||||
7 | Woodard in 1958; she later married Maurice E. Jones on | ||||||
8 | September 1, 1975; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Martha Jones attended Lockport High School and | ||||||
10 | graduated from Dudley Beauty College as a licensed | ||||||
11 | cosmetologist; in 1996, she graduated from Midwest Apostolic | ||||||
12 | Bible College with a bachelor's degree in Christian education; | ||||||
13 | and

14 | WHEREAS, Martha was baptized in August of 1980 at the | ||||||
15 | Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church, under the pastorate of | ||||||
16 | Bishop D. Rayford Bell; she received the Holy Ghost that same | ||||||
17 | month and remained a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith | ||||||
18 | Church until her passing; she served in many capacities at | ||||||
19 | Christ Temple, including Sunday School teacher, member of the | ||||||
20 | Missionary Choir, director of the Missionary Choir, | ||||||
21 | Amalgamated Choir member, cook, Noon-Day Prayer Chairman, and | ||||||
22 | Pastor's Aide Chairman; she enjoyed coming to the church at 6 |

1 | AM to prepare breakfast for the saints; she also served as a | ||||||
2 | professor for sign language, hermeneutics, and Romans at | ||||||
3 | Midwest Apostolic Bible College while working as a stylist for | ||||||
4 | saints all over Chicago and Indiana; and

5 | WHEREAS, Martha Jones was preceded in death by her parents; | ||||||
6 | her 2 brothers; and her sister; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Martha Jones is survived by her devoted husband, | ||||||
8 | Elder Maurice E. Jones; her son, Kenneth L. Woodard, Sr.; her | ||||||
9 | daughter-in-law, Delphine A. Woodard; her granddaughter, | ||||||
10 | Akesta (Andrew) Hoskins; her grandsons, Kenneth L. (Gloria) | ||||||
11 | Woodard, Kelly L. (Shawntel) Woodard, and Korey L. Woodard; her | ||||||
12 | 8 great-grandchildren; her step-daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson; | ||||||
13 | her sisters, Eva Polk, Betty Smith, and Betty Hill; her | ||||||
14 | brother, John Phillips; her special daughter, Elaine (Joe) | ||||||
15 | Robison; her goddaughter, Tiffinae Hunt-Reeves; her close | ||||||
16 | friends, Savana Milton, Lourene Miller, and Brenda Jackson; and | ||||||
17 | her many nieces, nephews, other relatives, fellow saints, and | ||||||
18 | friends; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
21 | her family and friends, the passing of Martha Francis Jones; | ||||||
22 | and be it further
