2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Ondina "Ondi" Norman, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | August 21, 2010; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ondina Norman met her future husband, retired | ||||||
6 | WMAQ-5 news anchor Art Norman, when he was starting his career | ||||||
7 | in Charlotte, North Carolina and she was at the TV station | ||||||
8 | doing research for her master's degree; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ondina Norman had a long and distinguished career | ||||||
10 | as a teacher; she taught near Charlotte, North Carolina and | ||||||
11 | Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Evanston; after moving to | ||||||
12 | Evanston, she taught first grade for about 20 years at Oakton | ||||||
13 | School; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, After her retirement, Ondina Norman and her | ||||||
15 | husband traveled extensively; she enjoyed Rome and adored going | ||||||
16 | antiquing in Galena for African-Americana works; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Ondina Norman is survived by her loving husband, | ||||||
18 | Art; her mother, Ruth Outerbridge; and her sister, Karen | ||||||
19 | Roberson; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL |

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
2 | her family and friends, the passing of Ondina "Ondi" Norman; | ||||||
3 | and be it further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Ondina Norman as an expression of | ||||||
6 | our sympathy.
