SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of George E. McCollum of Benton, who passed
away on July 11, 2010; and
WHEREAS, George McCollum was born on December 21, 1921, in
Benton; he was the son of Tilman and Beulah (Isaacs) McCollum;
he married the former Catherine (Katy) Frasher on June 30,
1946, in the First Baptist Church in Benton; and
WHEREAS, George McCollum served his country with pride and
distinction as a member of the United States Army Air Forces
during World War II; and
WHEREAS, George McCollum was the founder and co-owner of
McCollum Real Estate in Benton; and
WHEREAS, George McCollum was a member of the Benton
American Legion and the VFW; he was also a 79-year member of
the First Baptist Church in Benton; and
WHEREAS, George McCollum was preceded in death by his
parents; his stepfather, Harry Daniels; his wife; his sister,
Doris Seymour; and his brother, James (Ernie) McCollum; and

WHEREAS, George McCollum is survived by his daughter, Nancy
Mougey; his son, David McCollum; his grandchildren, Matt Mougey
and Mark Mougey and his wife, Rachel; his sister, Kathryn
Munday; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
his family and friends, the passing of George E. McCollum; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of George McCollum as an expression of
our sympathy.
