1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on February 12, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was born to Joseph and Eloise Hill | ||||||
6 | Hogan on January 30, 1934; he attended St. Agnes Elementary | ||||||
7 | School and graduated from Cathedral Boys High School; he | ||||||
8 | served in the U.S. Army for two years and then graduated from | ||||||
9 | the University of Illinois Police Training Institute; he | ||||||
10 | married Carol Lee Spears in Alton on August 27, 1960; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan served the City of Springfield for 31 | ||||||
12 | years as a police officer and retired in 1993 as a detective | ||||||
13 | sergeant; he worked security at the Illinois State Fair for 33 | ||||||
14 | years; he was the state treasurer for the Police Benevolent | ||||||
15 | and Protection Association of Illinois and was also president | ||||||
16 | of the Springfield unit; he was appointed to the Illinois Law | ||||||
17 | Enforcement Training and Standards Board, which oversees the | ||||||
18 | training of all police officers in the State; after retiring | ||||||
19 | from the Springfield Police Department, he worked security in | ||||||
20 | the Illinois Senate, where he met former State Senator and | ||||||
21 | U.S. President Barack Obama; and

22 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan received the William Herndon Award in |

1 | 1979 for the outstanding arrest of the year; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was affectionately know as "Bobby" or | ||||||
3 | "Bobby Joe"; he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Notre | ||||||
4 | Dame football; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
6 | his wife, Carol; his daughter, Kelli S. Hogan; his | ||||||
7 | granddaughter, Lily E. Hillyer; and his brother, Joseph "Jody" | ||||||
8 | Hogan; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bob Hogan is survived by his son, Robert Kevin | ||||||
10 | Hogan; his daughter, Kristi Jo (Eric) Hillyer; his | ||||||
11 | grandchildren, James (Kayla), Jacob, Chloe, and Ava; his | ||||||
12 | sister-in-law, Sue Buoy; his great-grandson, Owen; and his | ||||||
13 | niece, Stacey (Dean) Graven; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Robert Joseph "Bob" Hogan and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
17 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
