1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Denysia Bastas of Springfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away January 11, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was born in Benton to Thomas and | ||||||
6 | Laura (Perkins) Bastas on February 13, 1928; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was a valued employee of the State | ||||||
8 | of Illinois for more than 45 years; she began her government | ||||||
9 | career in 1953 in the office of Secretary of State Charles | ||||||
10 | Carpentier; she later worked in the office of Attorney General | ||||||
11 | Latham Castle, for the Teachers' College Board, and for the | ||||||
12 | Illinois Senate, where she assisted some of the State's most | ||||||
13 | distinguished legislators; she was a key assistant to | ||||||
14 | Lieutenant Governor Bob Kustra from 1991 until her retirement | ||||||
15 | in 1998; and

16 | WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas belonged to the First Christian | ||||||
17 | Church in both Springfield and Benton; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas was preceded in death by her | ||||||
19 | parents and by her brother, Paul Bastas; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Denysia Bastas is survived by her brother, Bob |

1 | (Yolanda) Bastas; her nieces, Deitri (Mike) Brixey and Nicole | ||||||
2 | (Tom) Jett; and her nephews, Craig (Rita), Rick (Gail), and | ||||||
3 | Neal (Julia) Bastas; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Denysia Bastas and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Denysia Bastas as an expression of | ||||||
11 | our deepest sympathy.
