| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 758
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The gift of sight is one of our most valued | ||||||
| 3 | senses; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Older Illinois residents are particularly | ||||||
| 5 | susceptible to loss of vision through age-related macular | ||||||
| 6 | degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, With early detection and treatment, it is possible | ||||||
| 8 | to preserve sight for this older generation; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, In 2010, EyeCare America will celebrate its 25th | ||||||
| 10 | anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Since its inception, EyeCare America has served | ||||||
| 12 | over 25,000 people in Illinois with 270 volunteer | ||||||
| 13 | ophthalmologists; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, More than 7,000 ophthalmologists volunteer to see | ||||||
| 15 | EyeCare America patients annually; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, People who are age 65 or older, who have not seen | ||||||
| 17 | an ophthalmologist in 3 or more years, may be eligible to | ||||||
| 18 | receive eye exams and care for up to one year at no cost to the | ||||||
| 19 | patient; therefore, be it
