1 | SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 758
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The gift of sight is one of our most valued | ||||||
3 | senses; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Older Illinois residents are particularly | ||||||
5 | susceptible to loss of vision through age-related macular | ||||||
6 | degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, With early detection and treatment, it is possible | ||||||
8 | to preserve sight for this older generation; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, In 2010, EyeCare America will celebrate its 25th | ||||||
10 | anniversary; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Since its inception, EyeCare America has served | ||||||
12 | over 25,000 people in Illinois with 270 volunteer | ||||||
13 | ophthalmologists; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, More than 7,000 ophthalmologists volunteer to see | ||||||
15 | EyeCare America patients annually; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, People who are age 65 or older, who have not seen | ||||||
17 | an ophthalmologist in 3 or more years, may be eligible to | ||||||
18 | receive eye exams and care for up to one year at no cost to the | ||||||
19 | patient; therefore, be it
