SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Walter John "Wally" Hulbert, who passed
away on September 7, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was born in Joliet to Walter L. and
Mary J. (Sinkovec) Hulbert on March 26, 1931; a lifelong
resident of Joliet, he served in the United States Army during
the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a
Bronze Service Star, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit
Citation, a National Defense Service Medal, and a United
Nations Service Medal; and
WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was employed by Commonwealth Edison
and retired in 1991 after 35 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was an active member of the
Cathedral of St. Raymond, where he was among the first of the
lay Eucharistic ministers and a member of the Men's Club; he
was a member of the Knights of Columbus; he coached his sons'
baseball teams for many years; he was a hunter and fisherman
and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; during a game at Wrigley
Field on July 29, 2017, he was honored as a Korean War veteran
on the jumbotron; he enjoyed bowling with friends on the
Chellino Cheese team; he adored his grandchildren and took them

to practices, games, and school events for many years; he will
be remembered as a loving husband, father, "Poppy", and friend;
and
WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Angelene "Angie" (Egizio) Hulbert; his
sister, Beverly Jean Hulbert; and his granddaughter, Nicolette
Bellos; and
WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert is survived by his children, John
(Susan) Hulbert, Catherine (Andrew) Bellos, Annette (Michael)
Sims, and Michael (Ann) Hulbert; his grandchildren, Jeffrey
(Emily), Stephen (Tracey), and Kevin Hulbert, Michelle (Kevin)
Kethcart, SSG (DS) Bellos, Andreas (Nichole), Angela, William,
Anthony, and Gerard Sims, and Benjamin and Brett Hulbert; his
great-grandchildren, Addison, Zachary, and Tyler Hulbert,
Alexander and Olivia Bellos, Elliott Kethcart, and Keira
Hulbert; his sister, Mary Margaret Loucks; his brothers,
Donald, Richard (Rose), and Clarence (Barb) Hulbert; his
brother-in-law, Dominic (Rita) Egizio; his sister-in-law,
Marian Egizio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Walter John "Wally" Hulbert and extend our sincere condolences

to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Wally Hulbert as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
