SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Walter John "Wally" Hulbert, who passed
4away on September 7, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was born in Joliet to Walter L. and
6Mary J. (Sinkovec) Hulbert on March 26, 1931; a lifelong
7resident of Joliet, he served in the United States Army during
8the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a
9Bronze Service Star, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit
10Citation, a National Defense Service Medal, and a United
11Nations Service Medal; and
12 WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was employed by Commonwealth Edison
13and retired in 1991 after 35 years of service; and
14 WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was an active member of the
15Cathedral of St. Raymond, where he was among the first of the
16lay Eucharistic ministers and a member of the Men's Club; he
17was a member of the Knights of Columbus; he coached his sons'
18baseball teams for many years; he was a hunter and fisherman
19and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; during a game at Wrigley
20Field on July 29, 2017, he was honored as a Korean War veteran
21on the jumbotron; he enjoyed bowling with friends on the
22Chellino Cheese team; he adored his grandchildren and took them

1to practices, games, and school events for many years; he will
2be remembered as a loving husband, father, "Poppy", and friend;
3and
4 WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert was preceded in death by his
5parents; his wife, Angelene "Angie" (Egizio) Hulbert; his
6sister, Beverly Jean Hulbert; and his granddaughter, Nicolette
7Bellos; and
8 WHEREAS, Wally Hulbert is survived by his children, John
9(Susan) Hulbert, Catherine (Andrew) Bellos, Annette (Michael)
10Sims, and Michael (Ann) Hulbert; his grandchildren, Jeffrey
11(Emily), Stephen (Tracey), and Kevin Hulbert, Michelle (Kevin)
12Kethcart, SSG (DS) Bellos, Andreas (Nichole), Angela, William,
13Anthony, and Gerard Sims, and Benjamin and Brett Hulbert; his
14great-grandchildren, Addison, Zachary, and Tyler Hulbert,
15Alexander and Olivia Bellos, Elliott Kethcart, and Keira
16Hulbert; his sister, Mary Margaret Loucks; his brothers,
17Donald, Richard (Rose), and Clarence (Barb) Hulbert; his
18brother-in-law, Dominic (Rita) Egizio; his sister-in-law,
19Marian Egizio; and many nieces, nephews, and friends;
20therefore, be it
21 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Walter John "Wally" Hulbert and extend our sincere condolences

3 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
