2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village | ||||||
4 | President, who passed away on November 1, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was born on July 29, 1960 in Elgin to | ||||||
6 | James and Maxine (nee Murphy) Hansen; he married Teri Spencer | ||||||
7 | in 1981; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was first elected to the village board | ||||||
9 | in 1991, and was elected Village President in 2001; he oversaw | ||||||
10 | South Elgin's westward expansion while keeping the "hometown | ||||||
11 | feel"; he was instrumental in the development of Concord Park | ||||||
12 | and its baseball fields; he also worked as a manager at NAPA | ||||||
13 | Auto Parts and in the purchasing department for Kane County; | ||||||
14 | and

15 | WHEREAS, Jim Hansen always believed his biggest job was to | ||||||
16 | be a consensus-builder; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Jim Hansen was preceded in death by his father, | ||||||
18 | James; his father-in-law, Eugene Spencer; and his faithful | ||||||
19 | companion, "Archie"; and

20 | WHEREAS, Jim Hansen is survived by his wife, Teri; his |

1 | sons, Dustin (Jennifer), Scott (Shannon), and Daniel (Hana | ||||||
2 | Dillon) Hansen; his grandchildren, Aiden, Marcus, Addison, and | ||||||
3 | Devin; his mother, Maxine Hansen; his brother, Don (Linda) | ||||||
4 | Hansen; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Spencer; and many nieces and | ||||||
5 | nephews; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Jim Hansen, South Elgin Village President, and extend our | ||||||
9 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
10 | and loved him; and be it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
