2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Nixon, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | May 7, 2017 at the age of 75; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon was born in Waukegan to Mattie and | ||||||
6 | Roosevelt Nixon; he graduated from Waukegan Township High | ||||||
7 | School, where he was a legendary basketball and baseball player | ||||||
8 | and was part of the school's first trip to state; he graduated | ||||||
9 | from Marquette University, where he was captain of the | ||||||
10 | basketball team his junior and senior years; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon was a retired executive from Sears; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon enjoyed the game of golf; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon was a Waukegan School Board member | ||||||
15 | for seven years with District 60 and a Waukegan Township | ||||||
16 | Trustee; he was also alderman for the Fifth Ward, board member | ||||||
17 | for First Midwest Bank, and board member for Victory Hospital; | ||||||
18 | and

19 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | parents; his sister, Rosie Jones; his brother, Roosevelt Nixon; |

1 | and his sister in-law, Audrey Nixon; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Richard Nixon is survived by his loving wife of 55 | ||||||
3 | years, Bertine "Bunny", and his daughters, Bridget Y. Nixon and | ||||||
4 | Regina (Stephen) Nixon-Halyard; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Richard "Dick" Nixon, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Richard Nixon as an expression of | ||||||
12 | our deepest sympathy.
