2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mary Frances Kuryliw of DeKalb, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on April 17, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw was born in Fairfax, Missouri to | ||||||
6 | Herbert and Margaret (Brim) Stoner on December 24, 1936; she | ||||||
7 | moved to Harvard in 1941 and graduated from Harvard High | ||||||
8 | School; she married Walter Kuryliw in Fairfax, Missouri on June | ||||||
9 | 23, 1956; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw worked for a local dentist for 11 | ||||||
11 | years; she later worked as a secretary for the Harvard School | ||||||
12 | District from 1978 until her retirement in 2002; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, From the age of five, Mary Kuryliw was a member of | ||||||
14 | the First United Methodist Church in Harvard where she taught | ||||||
15 | Sunday school, was a youth group leader, and became known as | ||||||
16 | "Ma"; she enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, scrapbooking, | ||||||
17 | quilting, and spending time with her family; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
19 | Walter; her parents; and her siblings, Gary (Barbara), Betty | ||||||
20 | Ann (William), and Donald Gene; and

1 | WHEREAS, Mary Kuryliw is survived by her children, Cynthia | ||||||
2 | (Michael) Poelking, Chester (Renee) Kuryliw, and Herbert | ||||||
3 | (Wendy) Kuryliw; her grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Poelking, | ||||||
4 | Kevin (Caitlin) Poelking, Michelle (Jackson) Govatos, Andrew | ||||||
5 | (Jacky) Kuryliw, Jennifer and Amy Kuryliw, Justin (Justine) | ||||||
6 | Kuryliw, and Jared Kuryliw (Maeva Demers); therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Mary Frances Kuryliw, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
11 | further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Mary Kuryliw as an expression of our | ||||||
