| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of United States Army Private First Class E3 | ||||||
| 4 | Devin Michel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of | ||||||
| 5 | Stockton, who was killed in the line of duty while serving in | ||||||
| 6 | the Zhari District, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, on October | ||||||
| 7 | 24, 2009; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, He was born on August 3, 1990, the son of Terry | ||||||
| 9 | and Rebecca (Broshous) Michel; he was a 2008 graduate of | ||||||
| 10 | Stockton High School, where he played football, basketball, | ||||||
| 11 | baseball, and was a member of the band; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, After graduation he enlisted in the United States | ||||||
| 13 | Army; he began basic training on June 14, 2008, stationed in | ||||||
| 14 | Fort Benning, Georgia; after basic he was stationed in Fort | ||||||
| 15 | Carson, Colorado, in the 4th Infantry; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, On October 3, 2008, he and Anika Entmeier were | ||||||
| 17 | married; on May 30, 2009, he was deployed on his first tour of | ||||||
| 18 | duty; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Devin enjoyed playing sports, his dog, Jade, and | ||||||
| 20 | playing drums; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Private First Class Devin Michel is survived by | ||||||
| 2 | his wife, Anika (Entmeier) Michel; his parents, Terry and | ||||||
| 3 | Rebecca Michel; his sisters, Holly and Catey Michel; his | ||||||
| 4 | grandparents, Elmer and Lois Miller and Rod and Kathryn | ||||||
| 5 | Broshous; and his great-grandmother, Winnifred (Harold | ||||||
| 6 | Gallagher) Luke; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 9 | his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of | ||||||
| 10 | United States Army PFC E3 Devin Michel; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Devin Michel and his | ||||||
| 12 | willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the | ||||||
| 13 | ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of United States Army Private First | ||||||
| 16 | Class E3 Devin Michel as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
