| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Decker Jr. of Rock Island, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on April 28, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Robert Decker was born in Peoria to Robert Sr. and | ||||||
6 | Helen Decker on May 31, 1940; he served in the United States | ||||||
7 | Army and married Barbara Bates in Rock Island on February 16, | ||||||
8 | 1962; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Robert Decker was employed with Dohrn Transfer as | ||||||
10 | a driver and in management for 43 years until his retirement; | ||||||
11 | he was also a volunteer firefighter in the Blackhawk Fire | ||||||
12 | Protection District; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, In his earlier years, Robert Decker was involved | ||||||
14 | in coaching youth baseball and Optimist League basketball; he | ||||||
15 | coached the Milan American Legion baseball team for 16 to 18 | ||||||
16 | year olds, and Little League and Babe Ruth teams for more than | ||||||
17 | 10 years; he enjoyed attending and following his | ||||||
18 | grandchildren's sporting events, meeting his morning coffee | ||||||
19 | group at McDonald's, and playing golf with his friends on | ||||||
20 | Sundays; and

21 | WHEREAS, Robert Decker was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge |

1 | No. 69 A.F. & A.M.; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis | ||||||
2 | Cardinals and the Chicago Bears; he enjoyed following the San | ||||||
3 | Francisco Giants, for whom his son, Steve, played and is | ||||||
4 | currently the assistant batting coach; and

5 | WHEREAS, Robert Decker was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
6 | Barbara; his parents; and his brother, Tom; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Robert Decker is survived by his children, | ||||||
8 | Catherine Rankin, Stephen (Maite) Decker, and Chris (John) | ||||||
9 | Polzin; his stepson, Jeff Koester; his grandchildren, Jennifer | ||||||
10 | Martin, Cody Rankin, Hailey Decker, Cammie Decker, and Nicole | ||||||
11 | Polzin; his step-granddaughter, Lana Descamps; four | ||||||
12 | great-grandchildren; his sisters, Janet, Judy, and Patricia; | ||||||
13 | his brother, Richard; his fiancee, Coral Rudsell; one | ||||||
14 | great-grandchild; extended family, Jeff (Susan) Johnson, Kevin | ||||||
15 | (Rhonda) Johnson, Laurel Johnson, Merritt Johnson, and Kevin | ||||||
16 | Johnson; and many other loving family members and friends; | ||||||

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
19 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Robert "Bob" Decker Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
21 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
