2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Dr. Rose Marie McCoy, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on September 13, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy was born to Samuel Sr. and Jennie | ||||||
6 | Eliza Merle (Turnage) Evans on September 24, 1951, the third | ||||||
7 | of nine children; she committed to her faith in 1976 and later | ||||||
8 | joined Dixmoor Apostolic House of Prayer Church; she married | ||||||
9 | William McCoy; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy was licensed as a certified nursing | ||||||
11 | assistant, and later, received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity | ||||||
12 | from Midwest Bible College; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy worked as a bookkeeper, office clerk, | ||||||
14 | CNA, and held various positions in the manufacturing industry | ||||||
15 | before working in ministry and assuming the office of pastor; | ||||||
16 | and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy and her husband founded Brothers | ||||||
18 | Keeper Outreach Church; later, they founded the Brothers | ||||||
19 | Keeper Community Resource Center and the IPAE Network, Faith | ||||||
20 | and Family Consultants; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy was kind, tolerant, given to | ||||||
2 | hospitality, and had a great sense of humor; she was always | ||||||
3 | proud of her children's accomplishments; she was soft spoken | ||||||
4 | and reserved unless preaching, where she displayed a bold and | ||||||
5 | explosive passion; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy led a life of honorable service, | ||||||
7 | punctuated by selfless dedication, unwavering devotion, and | ||||||
8 | unconditional love; she wore many hats, literally and | ||||||
9 | figuratively, and profoundly touched the lives of many in | ||||||
10 | manifold ways through her service, her resources, and her | ||||||
11 | example; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy was preceded in death by her parents; | ||||||
13 | her daughter, Billie McCoy-Thomas; and her siblings, Ida Belle | ||||||
14 | Evans, Gloria Glass, Ernestine Evans, and Stanley Evans; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Rose McCoy is survived by her husband of 57 | ||||||
16 | years, Chief Apostle Dr. William McCoy; her children, Victoria | ||||||
17 | (Ocie) McCoy-Salter, Vanessa (Toriano) McCoy-Pulphus, Debracia | ||||||
18 | (Otis) McCoy-Jones, Major Lee McCoy, and Otis McCoy; her bonus | ||||||
19 | sons, William Lorenzo McCoy and William Lester (Heather) | ||||||
20 | McCoy; her foster son, Calvin Hurt; 19 grandchildren; nine | ||||||
21 | great-grandchildren; her sister-in-Law, Minister Estelle | ||||||
22 | McCoy-Gogins; her siblings, Janell Byrd, Gwendolyn Hills, | ||||||
23 | Patricia Akwaboah, and Samuel (Ashley) Evans Jr.; and numerous |
