| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mark A. Scott of Eureka, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on May 2, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mark Scott was born in Louisiana, Missouri to Rev. | ||||||
6 | Dale and Marjorie Smiley Scott on September 23, 1960; he | ||||||
7 | married Andrea Wilson in Eureka on September 29, 1984; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Mark Scott attended the Worsham College of | ||||||
9 | Mortuary Science and began a career as a funeral director, | ||||||
10 | serving for 20 years; he first worked for the Otto-Argo Funeral | ||||||
11 | Home in Eureka before going to
Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel; | ||||||
12 | he then worked for 15 years for the Irwin Chapel in Granite | ||||||
13 | City; later, he began his career as a financial agent for | ||||||
14 | Country Companies; he worked from his office in Eureka for the | ||||||
15 | past 15 years, doing business as a Country Financial agent; and

16 | WHEREAS, Mark Scott was very active in the Eureka | ||||||
17 | community; he was an Eagle Scout, a member of Masonic Lodge | ||||||
18 | Triple 835 in Granite City, and a Shriner; he served as a past | ||||||
19 | member of the Kiwanis and was a former president of the PTA and | ||||||
20 | the Eureka Area Swim Team; he was the president of the Eureka | ||||||
21 | Rotary Club, a Eureka Business Association member, and served | ||||||
22 | on the board at the Heart House in Eureka; and

1 | WHEREAS, Mark Scott was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and | ||||||
2 | the Chicago Cubs; he enjoyed vacations and game nights with his | ||||||
3 | family and children; he loved to work in the yard and care for | ||||||
4 | birds; he was a member of the Eureka Christian Church; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mark Scott is survived by his wife, Andrea; his | ||||||
6 | children, Alyssa (Galen) Rocke and Derek (Colleen Hogan) Scott; | ||||||
7 | his sister, Melanie Shipp; his mother and father-in-law, | ||||||
8 | Shirley and Gilbert Wilson; his sister-in-law, Chris (Ron) | ||||||
9 | Schmidgall; his brother-in-law, Dean (Diana) Wilson; his pet | ||||||
10 | dog, Tippy; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | Mark A. Scott, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
14 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
15 | further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Mark Scott as an expression of our | ||||||
18 | deepest sympathy.
