SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Barbara J. (Bellis) Harpman of Galesburg,
formerly of Victoria, who passed away on September 18, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, She was born January 16, 1939, the daughter of
Joseph G. and Frances (Botruff) Bellis; she married Richard L.
Harpman on August 6, 1966, in Wataga; and
WHEREAS, She worked as a secretary for many years in
Galesburg, working at the State Research Hospital, the Illinois
Department of Employment Security, and the Henry C. Hill
Correctional Center, before she retired in 1996; and
WHEREAS, She was involved in PTA, Brownies, and Girl Scouts
as her children grew up; she was a member of Faith Lutheran
Church in Wataga, and was a member of Women of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America; she always had time to talk,
enjoyed visiting with people, and loved animals; and
WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard;
and
WHEREAS, Barbara Harpman is survived by her mother, Frances

Bellis; her son, Mark (Renee) Spenny; her daughters, Julie
(Brian) Kaminski, Cara Bannon, and Amy Harpman; her sister,
Merrily (Ralph) Sargent; her grandchildren, Brandon and Ambra
Haake; and her 4 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
her family and friends, the passing of Barbara Harpman; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Barbara Harpman as a symbol of our
sincere sympathy.
