1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of David S. "Dave" Chapman of Fieldon, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on April 19, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania | ||||||
6 | to David S. and Ruth (Roberts) Chapman on July 10, 1943; he | ||||||
7 | grew up in Carbondale, Pennsylvania and graduated from | ||||||
8 | Benjamin Franklin High School in 1961; he moved to Chicago to | ||||||
9 | be close to his sister and served with the United States Army | ||||||
10 | as a Specialist 5th Class; he married Rosie Cain in Nutwood on | ||||||
11 | June 17, 1967; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was employed as a machinist with | ||||||
13 | McDonnel-Douglas/Boeing for 33 years, retiring in 1999; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman enjoyed working on cars and learning | ||||||
15 | about and sharing his knowledge of cars; he was involved in | ||||||
16 | stock car racing for over 30 years, where he made many lasting | ||||||
17 | friendships along the way, including the very special bond he | ||||||
18 | shared with racing buddy, Jake Seets; and

19 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was active with his church, Charity | ||||||
20 | Christian Center; he served as Deacon for 29 years and was | ||||||
21 | selfless and always willing to help those in need in any way |

1 | possible; he was kind, soft-spoken, and always had time to | ||||||
2 | answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small; he | ||||||
3 | also enjoyed spending time with his girls at the Archery Club | ||||||
4 | and raised his girls to be independent women, prepared for any | ||||||
5 | challenge; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | parents; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dave Chapman is survived by his wife, Rose; his | ||||||
9 | daughters, Rachel (Todd) Cannedy, Amy (Brad) Welton, and | ||||||
10 | Andrea Chapman; his grandchildren, Seth Chapman, Audrey | ||||||
11 | Chapman, Lexi Swan, Drew Welton, and MarthaRose Cannedy; his | ||||||
12 | great-grandson, Archie; and numerous nieces and nephews; | ||||||
13 | therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | David S. "Dave" Chapman and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
17 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Dave Chapman as an expression of our | ||||||
21 | deepest sympathy.
