2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Gale E. DeRenzy of Canton, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 15, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy was born on March 8, 1938, in | ||||||
6 | Bushnell; his parents were Laurin and Opal Cowman DeRenzy; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy was employed as a salesman for Pekin | ||||||
8 | Distributing for 23 years until his retirement; he later also | ||||||
9 | the owner and operator of Gale's Lounge in Canton for 15 years; | ||||||
10 | and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy was one of the founding officers of | ||||||
12 | the Little Giant Booster Club, initiated the first videotaping | ||||||
13 | of the school's football games, and worked on the committee to | ||||||
14 | erect Canton Memorial Stadium; he was a past chairman of the | ||||||
15 | Fulton County Democrats; he was a major fundraiser to Santa | ||||||
16 | Jo's Workshop; he was instrumental in raising funds for the | ||||||
17 | first police K-9 unit in Canton; he was a past member and | ||||||
18 | president of the Canton School Board and was a member of the | ||||||
19 | board when Eastview and Westview Schools were built; he also | ||||||
20 | served on the Canton liquor commission and served as a Canton | ||||||
21 | Township Trustee; and

1 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy was designated the Canton Area | ||||||
2 | Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2003; the date of | ||||||
3 | January 15, 2000 was designated as Gale DeRenzy Day by the | ||||||
4 | mayor of Canton in honor of Mr. DeRenzy's work in the | ||||||
5 | community; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy served as a scout leader, softball | ||||||
7 | coach, and baseball coach in the Canton community; he was an | ||||||
8 | organizer and supporter of some of the largest fundraisers and | ||||||
9 | benefits in Fulton County; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis | ||||||
10 | Cardinals and Jeff Gordon; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
12 | his brothers, Charles "Bud," Jerry Bill, Richard, and Howard; | ||||||
13 | and his sisters, Dorothy Billings and Margaret Lamm; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Gale DeRenzy is survived by his significant other, | ||||||
15 | Cindy Rodney; his son, Steven G. (Debby) DeRenzy; his daughter, | ||||||
16 | Christine D. (Kevin) DelMastro; his nieces, Judy (Ken) Zink and | ||||||
17 | Sharon (John) Ryman; his brothers, Robert "Slick" (Jean) | ||||||
18 | DeRenzy, Larry (Barbara) DeRenzy, and Kenny (Nancy) DeRenzy; | ||||||
19 | his sisters, Verna Smith, Shirley Miller, Peggy (Dennis) | ||||||
20 | Briney, and Linda Sue Havens; his grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) | ||||||
21 | DeRenzy, Tad (Brandi) DeRenzy, Korey (Mandi) DelMastro, Ashley | ||||||
22 | DelMastro, Lindsey Chatterton, Caleb Bugos, Tom Zink, and Sarah | ||||||

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
6 | his family and friends, the passing of Gale E. DeRenzy; and be | ||||||
7 | it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Gale DeRenzy as an expression of our | ||||||
10 | sympathy.
