2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of John Arlandis Talley, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | March 23, 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Arlandis Talley was born to John Henry | ||||||
6 | "Buster" Talley Jr. and Lois Young on June 29, 1948; he served | ||||||
7 | in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, John Arlandis Talley worked in the Quad Cities as | ||||||
9 | an insurance agent, security for K-Mart, the local casinos, and | ||||||
10 | as a greeter at Sam's Club; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, John Arlandis Talley was affectionately known to | ||||||
12 | many as Big John, Big Bad John, and Tall Man; his family called | ||||||
13 | him Arlandis, and his friends knew him as John; he enjoyed | ||||||
14 | learning about psychiatry, listening to music, fried chicken, | ||||||
15 | and reading, whether it was a comic book, novel, newspaper, or | ||||||
16 | the Bible; he loved family reunions and get-togethers, where he | ||||||
17 | would play Bid Whist and Dominoes; and

18 | WHEREAS, John Arlandis Talley was a competitive pool player | ||||||
19 | and loved the game in all its forms; he played with numerous | ||||||
20 | pool leagues and was respected by the toughest players; and

2 | father, John Talley Jr.; his grandfathers, John Henry Talley | ||||||
3 | Sr. and E.L. Harnett; his grandmothers, Samella Harnett and | ||||||
4 | Inez Talley; his sisters, Peggy L. Pemberton and Helen J. | ||||||
5 | Minter; his brother, Samuel L. Talley; his uncles, J.B. | ||||||
6 | Shockley, Roland McCarroll, Frank Roddy, Ed Young, Melvin | ||||||
7 | Young, and Mr. Parker; and his aunts, Ottie Johnson, Beatric | ||||||
8 | Shockley, Helen McCarroll, and Elsie Young; and

9 | WHEREAS, John Arlandis Talley is survived by his long-time | ||||||
10 | companion, Donna Addleman; his mother, Lois Talley-Johnson; | ||||||
11 | his brothers, Lawrence E., (Douglas) Stephon, and (Raymond) | ||||||
12 | Anthony; his sisters, Felisita M. Weatherall (Richard), Lenora | ||||||
13 | A. Talley, and Judith A Ndubisi; and numerous aunts, uncles, | ||||||
14 | nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-nephew; therefore, | ||||||

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | John Arlandis Talley and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of John Arlandis Talley as an | ||||||
