| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Lloyd Maday, who died peacefully, | ||||||
4 | surrounded by family and friends, after a 2-year battle with | ||||||
5 | cardiac amyloidosis; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday was born and raised in Evanston, the | ||||||
7 | youngest of 6 boys; he worked as a produce manager at a | ||||||
8 | neighborhood grocery store before graduating from St. George | ||||||
9 | High School in Evanston; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, At the age of 19, Lloyd Maday and his brother | ||||||
11 | opened Maday Brothers Auto Service at Central Street and | ||||||
12 | Broadway Avenue in Evanston in 1951; 3 of his brothers worked | ||||||
13 | with him at the auto shop; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday was married in 1960 after a whirlwind | ||||||
15 | engagement and lived in Chicago for 6 years before settling in | ||||||
16 | Evanston; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday and the shop became fixtures in the | ||||||
18 | community, highlighted by Maday coaching in Little League, | ||||||
19 | coaching football and baseball at St. Athanasius Grade School | ||||||
20 | in Evanston, and mentoring young people interested in cars, all | ||||||
21 | while remaining a committed husband and strong father to his |

1 | children; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday taught friends, family, and customers | ||||||
3 | about the basics and intricacies of automobiles with an | ||||||
4 | unmatched zeal and familiarity, but also about the importance | ||||||
5 | of maintaining a strong character and resolve; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Maday Brothers Auto Service still stands on the | ||||||
7 | same corner, though it was sold by Lloyd Maday to one of his | ||||||
8 | longtime employees upon his retirement in 1999; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday was preceded in death by his son, | ||||||
10 | John, and his 5 brothers; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Lloyd Maday will be remembered, celebrated, and | ||||||
12 | missed by his wife, Kathleen; 2 sons, Terry and Bill; 4 | ||||||
13 | daughters, Maureen Frazell, Liz Brieva, Katie Mohajir, and | ||||||
14 | Peggy Martin; and 29 grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
17 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Lloyd Maday and honor | ||||||
18 | his life; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Lloyd Maday as an expression of our |
