| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Monica Young, who passed away on December | ||||||
4 | 4, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Monica Young was born in Glenview on November 14, | ||||||
6 | 1947; she attended Glenbrook High School; she married Richard | ||||||
7 | Young on February 26, 1966; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, In 2014, Monica Young was instrumental in | ||||||
9 | assisting her husband, Richard, in making McHenry County the | ||||||
10 | first county in the State of Illinois to declare itself a | ||||||
11 | Purple Heart County through the Military Order of the Purple | ||||||
12 | Heart; a two-sided Purple Heart monument, which is the only one | ||||||
13 | in the country and is located at the McHenry County Government | ||||||
14 | Center, lets people know that wounded veterans are appreciated; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Monica Young, along with her husband, raised | ||||||
17 | thousands of dollars for area charities and scholarships; she | ||||||
18 | dedicated time on Thanksgiving and Christmas to cook dinner for | ||||||
19 | local servicemen; she also coordinated the Friends of the | ||||||
20 | National Rifle Association Banquet for 25 years; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Monica Young was a member of the Marine Corps |

1 | League Detachment 1009 Auxiliary, the Military Order of the | ||||||
2 | Devil Dog North Pound #369 Auxiliary, and the American Legion | ||||||
3 | Post 491 Auxiliary; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Monica Young and her husband bred English Setters | ||||||
5 | and Labrador Retrievers; they were also a licensed rescue for | ||||||
6 | raptors; therefore, be it
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Monica Young and extend our sincere condolences to her family, | ||||||
10 | friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| ||||||
11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the family of Monica Young as an expression of our | ||||||
13 | deepest sympathy.
