2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mary Louise Teel of Pontiac, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on December 20, 2016 at the age of 91; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel was born in Saunemin to Frank and Anna | ||||||
6 | (Krenkelfuss) Dohman on November 16, 1926; her parents | ||||||
7 | emigrated from Germany in 1910; she traveled to Germany twice | ||||||
8 | to visit cousins; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel attended Oatmiller Country School for | ||||||
10 | eight years and was a 1943 graduate of Cullom High School; in | ||||||
11 | the early 1960s, she graduated from auctioneer school; when she | ||||||
12 | was 62, she attended William Raney Harper College and earned an | ||||||
13 | associate's degree in art; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul | ||||||
15 | Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society; she was vice | ||||||
16 | president of the Charlotte Home Extension, a Member of | ||||||
17 | Livingston County Senior Advisory Board, and served on the | ||||||
18 | board of directors for the Central Illinois Area Agency on | ||||||
19 | Aging; she served on the Chatsworth Town Board for eight years; | ||||||
20 | and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel loved to crochet and sew; she made |

1 | quilts for each daughter and crocheted baby afghans for every | ||||||
2 | baby born in her family; she held art classes in her basement | ||||||
3 | studio; she loved playing pinochle, scrabble, solving | ||||||
4 | crossword puzzles, and painting pictures; she decorated cakes | ||||||
5 | for all occasions and was known for her baking and cooking | ||||||
6 | skills; she was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel was very proud of her German heritage | ||||||
8 | and compiled a cookbook of family recipes and history; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel was preceded in death by her parents; | ||||||
10 | her husband, John Teel; her son, David Zeller; two grandsons, | ||||||
11 | Marco DeAngeles and David Eric Zeller; three sisters, Elizabeth | ||||||
12 | Wallrich, Anna Deany, and Charlene Dohman; five brothers, | ||||||
13 | Francis "Frankie" Dohman, William "Bill" Dohman, Richard | ||||||
14 | Dohman, George Dohman, and Gary Dohman; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Mary Teel is survived by her daughters, Diane | ||||||
16 | (Ulf) Olsen, Linda Arquette, Beth Ann May, and Mary Jo (Mark) | ||||||
17 | See; her son, Larry Zeller; 15 grandchildren, 35 | ||||||
18 | great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; her | ||||||
19 | sister-in-law, Jackie Dohman; her stepchildren, Paul Teel, | ||||||
20 | Laura Kracker, and Jo Ellen (John) Shoenbrun; therefore, be it

2 | mourn the passing of Mary Louise Teel, and extend our sincere | ||||||
