| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
Vincent A. Tepen of Batchtown, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 22, 2009; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen was born on July 19, 1931 in Hardin; | ||||||
6 | he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Knese) Tepen; he | ||||||
7 | married Wanda F. Dixon on February 8, 1958 in Hardin; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen graduated from Calhoun High School | ||||||
9 | in 1949; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen was employed as a beer truck driver | ||||||
11 | for Dixon Distributors in Godfrey until his retirement in 1984; | ||||||
12 | he was a member of the Teamsters Local 525 in Alton; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen and his wife owned and operated the | ||||||
14 | Apple Blossom Tavern and Restaurant for 10 years; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen was elected and served as county | ||||||
16 | commissioner of Calhoun for 20 years, 19 years as chairman, and | ||||||
17 | was reelected for a six year term in November of 2008; he | ||||||
18 | served on the Calhoun County Unit 40 School Board for 13 years; | ||||||
19 | he also served on the Illinois Valley Economic Development | ||||||
20 | Corporation Board, the Job Center Board, the Illinois |

1 | Association of County Boards, the Calhoun County Health Board, | ||||||
2 | the Calhoun County Ambulance Board, and served as chairman of | ||||||
3 | the West Central Development Council Board; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen was a member of St. Norbert's | ||||||
5 | Catholic Church in Hardin and a charter member of the Knights | ||||||
6 | of Columbus Council 4417, where he was a fourth degree member | ||||||
7 | and past Grand Knight; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen was preceded in death by his | ||||||
9 | parents; his brother, Gerald Tepen; and his grandson, Tyler | ||||||
10 | Tepen; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Vincent Tepen is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
12 | daughter, Veronica Tepen; his sons, Jeff (Kim) Tepen, Joe | ||||||
13 | (Angie) Tepen, Jim (Johna) Tepen, and John "Fred" Tepen; his | ||||||
14 | grandchildren, Derek, Shawn, Amber, and Brittney Tepen; his | ||||||
15 | step-grandchildren, Brad (Nicole) Hagen, Tara (Steve) | ||||||
16 | Beauchamp, Nikki and Nathasha Jones, and Kayla and Kyle | ||||||
17 | Johnson; his six step-great-grandchildren; and his brothers, | ||||||
18 | Henry (Judy) Tepen and Steve (Melba) Tepen; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
21 | his family and friends, the passing of Vincent A. Tepen; and be | ||||||
22 | it further
