| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Chris T. Mesiacos, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | December 27, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Chris T. Mesiacos was born in Garea, Tega, | ||||||
6 | Arkadia, Greece on October 26, 1927; he arrived in the United | ||||||
7 | States through Ellis Island aboard the Olympia on October 12, | ||||||
8 | 1956; he married his wife Diamanto (Kallianiotis) on December | ||||||
9 | 11, 1960, and they raised a loving family of three children in | ||||||
10 | Aurora until her passing on March 15, 1980; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was a machinist for 32 years with | ||||||
12 | Seal Master/Borg Warner in Aurora; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos put an enormous amount of energy | ||||||
14 | into community work; he served as Parish Council President of | ||||||
15 | St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora from 1973 to | ||||||
16 | 1975; he served as President of the United Hellenic Voters of | ||||||
17 | America (Aurora Chapter) and as President of Garea Society St. | ||||||
18 | Kyriaki; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was known as "Papou" by his | ||||||
20 | grandchildren and loved having them with him at community | ||||||
21 | events; his warm and gregarious personality was evident when |

1 | he would regale everyone with stories of politics and events | ||||||
2 | in Chicago and Aurora in great detail; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos was preceded in death by his wife; | ||||||
4 | his parents; and his three brothers, Nicholas, Constantine, | ||||||
5 | and John; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Chris Mesiacos is survived by his brother, | ||||||
7 | Demetrios (Adamantia); his sister, Georgia; his children, | ||||||
8 | Demetra Gikas (Aristidis), Maria Kaldis (Antonios), and City | ||||||
9 | of Aurora Alderman Theodoros "Ted" Mesiacos (Ekaterini); his | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, Aggeliki, Diamanto, Panagiota, | ||||||
11 | Christos-Nicholas Gikas, Evagelos (Christina), Efterpie, | ||||||
12 | Christos Kaldis, Diamanto, and Christos Mesiacos; and his many | ||||||
13 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Chris T. Mesiacos, commend his service to the community, and | ||||||
17 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
18 | who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Chris Mesiacos as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our deepest sympathy.
