2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Marene Hardy-Bates, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | December 7, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was born on October 24, 1954, | ||||||
6 | in Grenada, Mississippi; her parents were Irene and Cleodoa | ||||||
7 | Miers Sr.; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates grew up in Mississippi before | ||||||
9 | moving to Joliet in the late 1970s; after moving to Joliet, she | ||||||
10 | dabbled in several industries before finding her niche in | ||||||
11 | education in the early 1990s; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was a devoted Christian and a | ||||||
13 | proud member and vice president of the Lebanon District Nurses; | ||||||
14 | and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates was preceded in death by her | ||||||
16 | daughter, Monica LaShun Hardy, and her parents; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Marene Hardy-Bates is survived by her loving | ||||||
18 | husband, Clarence Bates Sr.; her sons, Gregory (Elisha) Hardy | ||||||
19 | and Tavaras (Billee) Hardy; her grandchildren, Mariah Hardy, | ||||||
20 | Jasmine Hardy, and Ian Hardy; her sister, Louise (Joseph) |

1 | Jones; her brothers, Cleveland Myers and Cleodoa (Shawnaa) | ||||||
2 | Miers Jr.; and her many nieces, nephews, stepchildren, cousins, | ||||||
3 | other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
6 | her family and friends, the passing of Marene Hardy-Bates; and | ||||||
7 | be it further

8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Marene Hardy-Bates as an expression | ||||||
10 | of our sympathy.
